About

Award-winning journalist and communicator. Writer, broadcaster and speaker on science, technology, environment, medicine and health in a political, social and economic context. Most recently, Head of Communications at two research institutes, Rothamsted Research and the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences. Advisor to institute directors on strategy, media operations and outreach programmes. Keen knowledge of research priorities and their interplay with public policy-making. Ongoing projects include chairing debates/discussions and “masterclass” tutor on science communications and engagement.

My ambition is to help build a society in which everyone is confidently engaged with science, technology, engineering and medicine, and is enthralled by them. That way we will all be better equipped to question and to make judgments about the development of the modern world; a society in which policy is underpinned by evidence; in which parents, teachers and the professions are motivated to help to inspire and educate the next generation.
